Two hikers were rescued from Mount Yonah Saturday evening after they lost their sense of direction, according to White County officials.
White County E-911 received the call at sunset Saturday, Spokesperson Bryce Barrett with White County Public Safety said.
"We dispatched fire services along with our USAF-1, which is a drone, and using the coordinates that 911 was able to provide, we were able to start our search," he said.
The drone used was equipped with thermal imaging, which led emergency officials to both hikers. The drone saved officials a lot of time in locating the lost and missing people, Barrett said.
"We were able to send fire personnel onto the trails, and just in a matter of minutes they were able to make contact with these individuals and escorted them back to their vehicles," he said.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
