Gainesville DAR to hold Memorial Day dedication for new bronze marker

Gainesville's Colonel William Candler Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will hold a dedication ceremony on Memorial Day for a new bronze marker that will honor Revolutionary War patriots.

According to a press release from the organization, a dedication ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Patriots' Park within Alta Vista Cemetary in Gainesville to place an America 250 Revolutionary Patriots bronze marker. Additionally, the organization will rededicate the WWI Monument at Patriots' Park.

Two Revolutionary patriots, Beal Baker and William H. Clark, along with Clark's wife Ruth Goodwin Clark, are interred in Patriots' Park.

The WWI monument recognizes the 32 Hall County residents who lost their lives in the war.

The public is encouraged to attend the ceremony.
