Sawnee EMC to celebrate 85th anniversary

An electric cooperative based in Forsyth County is marking a milestone for its history of service.

Sawnee EMC, formerly Forsyth County Electric Cooperative, celebrates its 85th anniversary on  Sunday, July 16.

A release from Sawnee Vice President of Services Blake House indicates that they began operations in 1938, and have grown to become the third-largest electric cooperative in Georgia, and eighth-largest in the country with over 370 employees and 172-thousand member-owners throughout seven North Georgia Counties.

Sawnee EMC's services range from marketing natural gas, to targeted energy efficiency member solutions, to energy conservation rebates and virtual solar energy.
