By Christian Ashliman Anchor/Reporter

Two patients were transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Wednesday following a long extrication of a female patient who was trapped inside a wrecked vehicle.

Units with Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded at approximately 11:20 p.m. to 3987 Old Highway 441 near Alto. Reports indicated a blue Dodge Ram truck had veered off the road and into a nearby treeline.

One eight-year-old child was stabilized at the scene and transported by EMS to NGMC in stable condition.

A female was trapped in the truck and eventually was extricated and life-flighted to NGMC with multiple injuries. As of the last report, she was listed in serious condition, according to Fire and EMS Chief Steve Nichols.

The Georgia State Patrol is still investigating the incident.
