State Fire Investigation Unit offering $10K reward for information on camper fire

Officials are offering a reward for any information from a July 18 blaze that destroyed a camper in Toccoa, as the incident is believed to have been an act of arson.

Investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the call after a camper on Charles Hayes Road in Toccoa was completely destroyed by a fire. The blaze started at approximately 11:06 p.m. and is believed to have been an act of arson, according to Commissioner John King.

King announced up to a $10,000 reward Tuesday for any information on the arson that may lead to an arrest and conviction. Those with details are asked to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at (800) 252-5804.

The actual cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to officials. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office as well as the Eastanollee Volunteer Fire Department.
