Softball: Mullins leads NHall past Walnut Grove; Bluff routs Cedar Shoals in 8-4A

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Olivia Mullins hit two home runs and drove in six to lead North Hall to a 16-8 win in six innings over Walnut Grove on Thursday in Region 8-4A action. 

Mullins homered in first to tie the game at one and capped a three-run fourth inning with a two-run blast for an 8-4 four lead. She added a two-run double in the fifth as the Lady Trojans (2-2, 1-1 Region 8-4A) pulled away for a 13-7 lead.

Genesis Satterfield had three hits and three RBI, including a solo home run of her own.

North Hall added three more runs in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule.

Walnut Grove scored in every inning but could not overcome a 17-hit North Hall attack.

Mac Taylor earned the win for North Hall, surrendering seven runs on 12 hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked none. 

Amelia Arledge took the loss for Walnut Grove, also five innings, allowing 13 runs (12 earned) on 15 hits.

Marly Weaver, Taylor, Ashley Callahan, and Emily Hudson all had two hits for North Hall. Hudson drove in fours.

The Lady Trojans next will travel to Dawson County on Saturday in a non-region matchup


CHEROKEE BLUFF 20,
CEDAR SHOALS 0 (4 inn)

Mac Warren drove in four runs and Catalina Baronci knocked in three runs to lead Cherokee Bluff to a 20-0, four-inning win over Cedar Shoals on Thursday in Region 8-4A action.

The Lady Bears (3-1, 2-0 Region 8-4A) scored 10 runs in the first, two in the third, and invoked the mercy rule with eight runs in the fourth.

Warren and Baronci each had four hits to lead an 18-hit barrge for Cherokee Bluff. Angelina Baronci and Audrey Graham both had two RBI for the Lady Bears.

Catalina Baronci earned the win for Cherokee Bluff tossing a one-hitter while striking out seven and walking one.

Kira Law had the lone hit for Cedar Shoals.
