The grand jury indicted Emilio Catroppa after hearing the evidence presented.
Catroppa was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 23, 2022, following an incident at a home in Cleveland.
At the time of his arrest, White County Sheriff Rick Kelley said sheriff’s office deputies responded to a location on Shadow Creek Point in Cleveland, for a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, deputies found a woman, 58, who had been run over by a truck.
Catroppa, the victim's husband, was questioned by investigators, and subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle under the Family Violence Act, and placed into custody.
Catroppa’s wife was taken by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with serious injuries.
She passed away from those injuries on Nov. 1, 2022, and investigators then upgraded charges to malice murder and felony murder.
The grand jury in addition to the murder charges indicted Catroppa on homicide by vehicle-leaving the scene, aggravated assault, and hit and run.
