DAWSONVILLE, Ga. — North Hall swept a pair of games on Saturday in the Dawson County Diamond Day tournament.
The Lady Trojans beat host Dawson County 7-3 in the opening game and then routed Lanier 16-8 n five innings in the second game.
Against Lanier, Genesis Satterfield had a huge game going 4-for-4, including belting three home runs, and driving in six. Satterfield homered in the first, third, and fourth innings.
However, North Hall (3-2) had to battle from an early 1-0 deficit. The Lady Trojans captured the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the first when Satterfield hit a solo home run to left field, and Mia Swords doubled, scoring two runs.
North Hall exploded for eight runs in the second to blow it open.
Mac Taylor, Marly Weaver, Jacey Smith, who also homered, and Emily Hudson all had two hits and combined for seven RBI.
Against Dawson County, North Hall trailed 2-0 after five innings but plated four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to rally for the win. Olivia Mullins had a pair of doubles and drove in three runs. Bre Stowers knocked in two runs for the Lady Trojans.
North Hall next will travel to Cherokee Bluff on Tuesday in a huge Region 8-4A matchup..
BUFORD PITCHING DOMINATES IN RUMBLE AT THE RIDGE
Buford improved to 3-0 on the season after taking a pair of wins in the Rumble at the Ridge tournament held at the Buford Softball Complex.
The Lady Wolves opened with a tough 4-0 win over Cherokee Bluff and then hammered Campbell 13-0 in the second game.
Senior Emma Grace Williams earned her first victory of the season going four innings and allowing just one hit against Cherokee Bluff. Sophomore Caroline Stanton pitched the final two innings to earn the save.
Junior Kylie Gower and sophomore Addie Rackley each had two hits for Buford. Mackenzie Pickens, Stanton, and Gower each had one RBI for the Lady Wolves.
Against Campbell, Buford scored four runs in the first and nine in the second. The game was called after four innings due to the mercy rule.
Rackley earned her first career victory in the circle for Buford, going the distance, allowing only 2 hits, and striking out five.
The Pickens twins had a huge game at the plate. Mackenzie blasted two home runs and drove in three. Madison had a solo HR, a triple, and two RBIs. Kadyn Gabrels had one hit and two RBI for the Lady Wolves.
CHEROKEE BLUFF DROPS TWO IN RUMBLE
The Lady Bears dropped a pair of games in the Rumble at the Ridge but gave a pair of Class 7A teams all they could handle.
Bluff lost 4-0 to defending state champion Buford and then lost a slugfest to Mill Creek, 13-10, in the second game.
Against Mill Creek, the Lady Bears led 5-2 after the second but the Lady Hawks scored four in the third to grab the lead. Bluff answered back with three runs in the fourth to reclaim a 9-7 lead.
Mill Creek, however, put the game away with six runs in the fifth.
Bluff outhit Mill Creek 14-8 for the game.
Catalina Baronci had four hits, including a home run, to pace Bluff. Audrey Graham, Emma Sundermeyer, and Kate Herren all had two hits for the Lady Bears.
BANKS COUNTY 8,
EAST HALL 1
Peyton Gaylor had two hits, one RBI and pitched a complete game to lead the Lady Leopards to a win on Saturday.
Banks County (3-1) opened with three runs in the top of the first inning and led 7-0 before East Hall scored its only run in the fifth.
Carley Segars and Mary Faulkner each had two hits for the Lady Leopards, who had 10 hits on the day.
Gaylor scattered four hits and allowed one run while striking out eight.
Amari Burce took the loss for the Lady Vikings, surrendering nine hits and eight runs, only five earned, over seven innings. Burce also fanned eight.
Burce had two of East Hall’s four and got the lone RBI.
