Softball: East Forsyth routs Chestatee for 8-4A win; EHall, Buford win

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth scored nine runs in the first inning en route to 15-0, three-inning win over Chestatee in Region 8-4A action on Monday.

The Lady Broncos (3-1, 2-0 Region 8-4A) belted a pair of home runs by Cali Marshall and Emma Smallwood as part of an 11-hit attack. Ava Cowart had three hits, three RBI and scored twice for East Forsyth.

Marshall hit a solo shot in the first and Smallwood smacked a three-run homer in the third to help put the game away.

Cadence Alberty earned the win allowing just one hit and fanning six in two innings.

Remy  Odom had Chestatee’s lone hit.

WEST HALL 2

East Hall snapped a three-game losing streak with a big win the Lady Spartans.

Aniyah Smith singled in a run and Emily Ingbritsen added a two-run double in a five-run first inning for the Lady Vikings  (2-3). They added two in the second on a RBI single by Amari Burce and an RBI groundout from Elvie Armour.

After West Hall cut the lead to 7-2 in fourth, East Hall plated three in the bottom of the inning,

Burce got the win in the circle for East Hall allowing just one hit two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out nine.

Maddox Wilson took the loss for West Hall.

Rylyn Battles had West Hall’s only hit.


BUFORD 12,
WALNUT GROVE 2

Adriana Martinez hit two home runs and drove in three to lead the Lady Wolves to a win in five innings.

However, they had to battle from behind as the Lady Warriors grabbed a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning on a RBI single and an RBI groundout  off Emma Grace Williams. 

But Buford got within 2-1 in the second and then took the lead for good with three runs in the third on home runs by Mackenzie Pickens, and Martinez. The Lady Wolves pulled away with four runs each in the fourth and fifth innings, with Madison Pickens belting a three-run home run for the final score to invoke the mercy rule.

Williams earned the win giving up just the two runs on three hits while striking out six in a complete-game effort.

Malorie Watson took the loss for Walnut Grove lasting 3 2/3 innings, giving up eight runs on seven hits and walking three.
