By AccessWDUN Staff

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. – A quick start was all Flowery Branch needed as they knocked off Decatur by a 38-7 final Friday night.

"That was the plan to go out and start fast," said head coach Jason Tester. "We executed on offense really well in the first half outside of the penalties. Our guys played hard and with passion and I'm proud of what they accomplished."

It didn't take long for the Falcons to scratch the scoreboard as quarterback Josh Oliver found Jeremiah Ware just 30 seconds into the contest to take a 7-0 lead. After a three-and-out, Malik Dryden capped the next drive with a 6-yard run to double the Flowery Branch lead.

The Falcons finsihed off the first quarter with a 27-yard field goal from Brooks Recinella with 2:03 to play in the period, but penalties kept a couple big plays off the board in the second quarter for the Branch, keeping the score there at halftime.

From there, Flowery Branch extended its lead to 31-7 by the end of the third before adding one more score in the fourth to seal the opening week win.

The Falcons will travel down to St. Pius X next week.
