TIGER, Ga. — The Rabun County offense, sporting several new components, looked a lot like the old offense Friday night in the Wildcats’ season-opener.

Sophomore quarterback Ty Truelove threw for 220 yards on 15-of-20 attempts, including 4 TD passes to lead Class A Division 1 fourth-ranked Rabun County to an impressive 45-21 win over Haralson County at home.

Truelove spread the ball around to seven different receivers, with Willie Goodwin, Paul Picciotti, and Cooper Welch all hauling in three passes each. Goodwin had 81 yards and a pair of TD catches, Picciotti had 65 yards and 1 TD catch, and Welch racked up 30 yards. Reid Giles added 2 catches for 31 yards and 1 TD for the Wildcats.

Rabun County (1-0) started fast and dominated the first half, rolling out to a 38-0 halftime lead. Haralson County (0-1) finally got on the board in the third quarter and outscored the Rabun reserves 14-7 in the fourth to close the gap.

Giles also added 86 yards rushing, with 56 coming on an electrifying touchdown scamper. Truelove rushed for 32 yards and a score as well.

Marcus Remilliard booted a 22-yard field goal in the second quarter.

The Wildcats will travel to Class 3A No. 9 Stephens County next week.
