Football: White County blows past Habersham Central

CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County had little trouble offensively and backed it up with a stout defensive performance in a 34-6 win over Habersham Central Friday night.

The Warriors were first to score as Tripp Nix found Von Dre Nelson for a 54-yard strike with 7:28 to play in the first quarter. After neither team could score for the near remainder of the first half, Habersham Central's Michael Hill kicked a 37-yard field goal as the first half horn sounded to cut into the lead, 7-3.

Nix again found the endzone to open the third quarter, linking up with Cam Wilson from 10 yards out to take a 14-3 lead, but again the Raiders answered with a Hill 26-yard chip shot to bring it back to a one-possession contest.

From there, it was all White County as Nix found Isaiah Whitlow for a 5-yard passing socre late in the third quarter before Ryan Fowler had rushing touchdowns of 69 and 25 yards in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Fowler finished with 15 carries for 155 yards and two scores, while Nix was 9-of-17 passing for 207 yards and three touchdowns. For the Raiders, Carson Parker was 11-for-25 throwing for 100 yards.

The Warriors will travel to Chestatee next week, while Habersham Central willhave a week off before a trip to Central Gwinnett.
