COAL MOUNTAIN, Ga. – On a newly installed playing surface at Raider Valley, North Forsyth took care of business Friday night, taking down cross-county rival Forsyth Central 27-17.
North Forsyth opened the scoring early with a fumble return touchdown from Jacob Shirley just 1:11 into the game. The Bulldogs answered late in the first quarter before taking a 10-7 lead midway through the second period on a 34-yard field goal.
The Raiders answered coming out of halftime with Shirley rushing in from 15 yards, his first of three touchdowns in the second half. He added a 2-yard touchdown late in the period to stretch the lead to 21-10 before finishing the night with seven minutes to go on a 3-yard scamper to seal the win.
Shirley finished with 60 rushing yards and the three scores, while Darron Parry led the way with 139 yards on the ground.
The Raiders will play another in-county rival next week on the road at West Forsyth.
