MURPHY, N.C. – After a slow start offensively, Commerce could not be stopped as they blew past Murphy (NC) on the road Friday night, 56-13.

The Bulldogs scored first early in the first quarter, but Commerce answered at the 3:49 mark as Tysean Wiggins scored on a 37-yard sprint to tie the game up. Two minutes later, Jaiden Daniels broke it open on the first play of the drive, running 56 yards for another Tiger score to go up 14-7.

After Murphy scored on the ensuing drive, the Tigers gave it to Jacari Huff to run in from 29 yards out to push the lead out to 21-13. Daniels found paydirt on the next Commerce drive, scoring from 65 yards away on a 3rd-and-15 to stretch the lead further.

The Tigers got another touchdown run from Wiggins and a pick-six from freshman Jace Lyle to take a 42-13 lead into the halftime break. Wiggins went on to open the third quarter scoring with an 89-yard touchdown run at the 5:21 mark before Commerce capped the scoring off with a 1-yard rush from Ty Sorrels to finish off the out-of-state victory.

Commerce will travel to Hebron Christian next week for their first game against an opponent from Georgia this season.
