J's Place Recovery Center and community partners will hold the 4th annual Hall Recovers Night of Awareness Thursday in downtown Gainesville in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.
The event will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Roosevelt Square in Downtown Gainesville, according to a press release from the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce. It honors those the community has lost as a result of substance abuse disorder and honors those in recovery.
“The annual HALL RECOVERS event has made a powerful impact on our recovery community and family and friends of those we’ve lost," Jordan Hussey, executive director of J's Place Recovery Center said. "This year we will again feature speakers who represent all facets of those impacted by substance abuse. Individuals and advocates of recovery will be highlighted with the event culminating in a candlelight vigil recognizing loved ones we have lost.”
The event is open to the public with food onsite as well as music, exhibitors, nonprofits and resources. Hall Recovers t-shirts will be distributed to the first 100 attendees.
Local recovery motorcycle associations will serve complimentary hamburgers and hotdogs and Kona Ice will serve free shaved ice treats.
Sponsorship funds will go toward the purchase of Narcan which will be given away at the event while supplies last.
