GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Chestatee won its first-ever Hall County volleyball championship Saturday, holding off Lanier Christian in the finals.
The Lady War Eagles (11-3) were solid throughout the tournament. They knocked off a solid Gainesville squad in the semifinals. Lanier Christian advanced to the championship match with a tough three-set win over 2022 champion Cherokee Bluff (25-21, 17-25, 15-9) in the other semifinal match.
Chestatee lost in the finals in 2022 to the Lady Bears.
Bluff finished third, Gainesville fourth, North Hall fifth, and East Hall sixth in the 2023 tournament.
In the Silver bracket, Lakeview Academy won two tough matches to win the lower division. The Lady Lions opened with a 25-20, 25-23 over West Hall before beating Flowery Branch 25-22, 25-23
Leading Lakeview (10-7) was Maggie Rogers with 17 kills and Addie Gilmer with 30 assists. in the two matches. Taliah Gaither had 7 kills and Avery Wood 4 kills for the Lady Lions.
