Football: Stephens-Branch, Cedar Shoals-EForsyth, Coconut Creek-GHS headline radio lineup

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

Week 2 had plenty of offense as 12 games had teams scoring 30 or more points.

In the most shocking result of the night, Stephens County shut out Rabun County, 35-0. The biggest nailbiter of the night was the Duluth-Jackson County battle. The Panthers fell in overtime, 35-34. In other action, Lakeview Academy and East Forsyth picked up their first wins of the season. Commerce blew out Murphy, NC, 56-13, and Buford rode the struggle bus past Mallard Creek in a 10-7 come-from-behind win.

Week 3 should not disappoint as there are several good matchups on the schedule, and three of those showdowns are on the Jacobs Media airwaves and streaming live on AccessWDUN.com.

Stephens County at Flowery Branch – Flowery Branch turned in its second straight balanced performance in a 31-13 win over St. Pius X in Atlanta. This week, they'll face a Stephens County team that shut out Rabun County last week in Toccoa. This game has the makings of a dang good one. The Falcons have an offense that can get it done on the ground and in the air, and so does Stephens County. This game will have plenty of highlights. You can listen to the game on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live).

Cedar Shoals at East Forsyth – East Forsyth enters its first Region 8-4A contest off a 44-20 season-opening win over Seckinger. The Broncos showed out on both sides of the ball. On the other hand, Cedar Shoals was hammered by Monroe Area last week, 41-0. The Broncos stunned Cedar Shoals last year in Athens to open region play 1-0. If the Broncos beat the Jaguars this year, it won't be stunning. It'll be what everybody expected. You can hear the game on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live).

Coconut Creek, Fla. at Gainesville – After trailing 7-0 in the first half against Mountain View, Gainesville used a heavy rushing attack to rush past the Bears. Coconut Creek is reloading on offense but returns several key playmakers on defense. But that doesn't matter. Gainesville's offense has the firepower to blow past the Cougars. The game can be heard live on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live).
