BUFORD, Ga. — Caroline Stanton was perfect and No. 1 Buford stayed perfect on Tuesday.
Stanton tossed a five-inning perfect game to lead the Lady Wolves to a 9-0 win over Collins Hill in Region 8-7A at the Buford Softball Complex.
Stanton struck out 10 of the 15 batters she faced. The Buford (10-0, 3-0 Region 8-7A) offense gave her all the support she would need with a 7-run first inning behind a pair of home runs by senior Mackenzie Pickens and Stanton.
Pickens drilled a solo home run while Stanton blasted a three-run shot in the opening frame.
Senior Madison Pickens had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Senior Adriana Martinez also had two doubles as Buford pounded out 12 hits in just four innings of work.
Buford next will travel to Wesleyan on Wednesday to take on the defending Class 3A state champions.
NORTH FORSYTH 9-8,
SHILOH 1-2
The Lady Raiders swept a doubleheader in Region 8-6A on Tuesday at home.
The wins kept North Forsyth (8-6, 5-0 Region 8-7A) atop the region standings.
In the first game, the Lady Raiders scored in every inning with Lexie Durban driving in three runs on two hits. Trinity Bearden hit a solo home run.
Durban also got the win giving up just one run on three hits while striking out six.
In the second game, Mandi Peretti knocked in four runs on two hits, including a bases-clearing triple in the third inning.
Durban also drove in two runs for North Forsyth.
Ella Rouse got the win in the circle for the Lady Raiders. Rouse scattered five hits, giving up two runs (one earned) in a complete-game effort. She fanned three and walked one.
Shiloh’s only runs came in the sixth to cut into a 5-0 North Forsyth lead.
