TEMPLE, Ga. – The Lumpkin County Indian rushing offense put up massive numbers again this week as they took down Temple Friday night, 35-0.
Mason Sullens rushed for 238 yards on 30 touches, rushing for the majority of the 341 yards on the ground for the Indians.
But while the offense exploded throughout the game, it was special teams that started the game as Nolan Matthews returned the opening kickoff from the goal line to take the early 7-0 lead. Then Sullens got going, rushing for a 10-yard touchdown later in the opening period to double the Lumpkin lead.
After a scoreless second quarter, Sullens scored the third quarter's lone touchdown from a yard out. Cal Faulkner accounted for both touchdowns in the fourth, rushing in from nine yards before throwing to Luke Evans for a 7-yard touchdown to get to the final.
The Indian defense stood up as well, holding Temple to just 163 yards while getting three interceptions.
Lumpkin County will take on Hart County next week in the final non-region game of the season for the Indians.
