The Gwinnett County Police Department identified the man they say stole a watch worth several thousand dollars from a Lawrenceville jewelry store in May of this year.

According to a release from the department, a man was seen May 9 on surveillance cameras entering the Kay Jewelers store at the Sugarloaf Mills Mall and trying on a watch valued at $2,000. He then was seen running out of the store with the watch without paying for it.

Officers assigned to the East Precinct Community Response Team on August 29th identified the suspect as 37-year-old John Casey Rooks of Lawrenceville.

Rooks is currently incarcerated at the Gwinnett County Jail on other non-related charges. He was charged with Felony Theft by Shoplifting in this incident.
