The City of Lawrenceville will host its brand-new music and arts festival, The Lawrenceville Boogie, in the heart of Downtown Lawrenceville on September 16.
“Meet Me at The Boogie” will be a celebration from 3-6 p.m. complete with groovy live music, an artist alley, a craft beer garden, and vendors from Lawrenceville’s food scene. The event will also have a silent disco.
The live entertainment lineup for the festival includes the following up-and-coming artists:
Spaceface, led by Jake Ingalls, formerly of the Flaming Lips, is a self-described “Retro Futurist Dream Rock.” Over eight years, the group has toured all over the United States and Canada with stops at acclaimed festivals such as SXSW and Hangout Music Festival. Their latest Sophomore LP “Anemoia”, offers sounds of psychedelic rock and blends transparent 70s references with striking modern indie and pop-rock elements. The act provides their dedicated following with thrill-inducing D.I.Y. performances that only get crazier as they perfect their experimental craft.
“Pip the Pansy and her sensational dancing Blobs are sure to leave you mystified,”a press release from the city said. “Just try keeping your socks on as Pip and her magic flute take you for a ride on the wings of whimsy. “
Pansy has been acclaimed for her unique Indie Electronica Flute Pop sound, and released her first full-length album, “Neon Garden,” in 2022. She's known for her fusion of Indie Electronica and Flute Pop.
“Alto Moon is an emerging artist with bold, skillful vocals and experimental songwriting.” the city said. “Alto’s versatility sees him deliver everything from alternative-pop and electronic-R&B, straight through to bold-and-brassy soul anthems.”
The artist’s sound is inspired by club icons such as Donna Summer, funk-R&B legends such as Prince Prince, and the aesthetics of afro-futurism as seen in Janet Jackson or Janelle Monáe.
Amassing millions of streams independently, Moon delivers a catalog capable of soundtracking a box-office smash. Alto has been gaining notable praise for his high-energy live show as seen on NPR’s Tiny Desk Tour, halftime at the WNBA, and various music festival stages.
