ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bulldogs will open the Southeastern Conference portion of their 2024 baseball schedule on the road, according to announcement by the SEC office on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs will begin their 30-game conference slate March 15-17 in Lexington, Kentucky against the Wildcats. The Bulldogs’ SEC home debut will be the following week, March 22-24 against Alabama. Georgia’s other four SEC home series will be against Missouri (Apr. 12-14), Ole Miss (Apr. 19-21), Vanderbilt (May 3-5) and Florida (May 16-18). The remaining four SEC road series will be against Tennessee (March 29-31), Mississippi State (Apr. 5-7), Texas A&M (Apr. 26-28) and South Carolina (May 10-12).

Georgia will begin fall practice Sept. 22 under the direction of new head baseball coach Wes Johnson, who begins his first season in Athens after helping LSU win the 2023 national championship. As pitching coach for the Tigers, his staff featured eight selections in this past June’s Major League Baseball Draft, including the top overall pick in Paul Skenes. A record-tying 10 SEC teams earned NCAA Tournament bids in 2023 with a nation-leading three teams advancing to the CWS.

Georgia’s fall exhibitions along with the regular season non-conference schedule will be announced later this year. The 2024 college baseball season begins Feb. 16. Ticket information will be available in early December.

The 2024 SEC schedule is subject to change for television, including the move of some conference series to begin on Thursdays. The SEC Tournament returns to Hoover, Ala., and will be held May 21-26. The format again will feature the league’s top 12 finishers. NCAA Regional action will be May 31-June 2 with Super Regionals slated for June 7-10, both played at various campus sites. The College World Series (CWS) will be conducted June 15-25 in Omaha, Neb.

Consensus All-America first baseman/outfielder Charlie Condon, who batted .396 with 25 home runs, 67 RBI and an .800 slugging percentage as a redshirt freshman, highlights the returning Bulldog lettermen. Six pitchers who started a game are back, including redshirt senior LHP Charlie Goldstein (3-2, 5.03 ERA) and sophomore LHP Jarvis Evans (2-0, 4.71 ERA). A host of bullpen contributors return including sophomore Leighton Finley (2-2, 6.26 ERA, 4 Saves) and junior Chandler Marsh (1-3, 5.46 ERA) as they excelled in summer action in the Cape Cod League.
