By Hamilton Keener Anchor / Reporter

An August multi-agency investigation in Hall County uncovered a package containing more than 550 grams of fentanyl had been mailed to the county.

Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators, Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Postal Inspection Service worked together to intercept the shipment worth nearly $112,000.

According to Hall County Authorities, an HCSO K9 exhibited a positive odor response on Aug. 22 on a package shipped from California to a P.O. Box in Flowery Branch.

Further investigation found that the individual the package was addressed to did not exist.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and opened the package which contained nearly 562 grams of fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $112,400.

Investigators are continuing to look into the source of the pills.
