Nearly two dozen northeast Georgia area schools covered by AccessWDUN Sports were to be in action on Tuesday, one of the busiest nights of the season so far, with all but two games involving key region matchups.
However, storms that moved through on Monday night forced several games to be rescheduled.
A much-anticipated matchup between Union County and Banks County in Region 8-2A, both girls and boys games, was moved to Tuesday, Jan. 23, in Homer. The showdown between arch-rivals Lumpkin County and Dawson County in Regio 7-3A also has been rescheduled. All four teams will play on Wednesday, Jan. 10 in Dawsonville.
Rabun County's meeting with Commerce in Commerce was canceled, as was Towns County traveling to Swain County (NC).

Two big matchups of ranked teams on the girl's side highlight the action, though there are several crucial region contests across the board. Class 4A No. 8 Chestatee (12-4, 4-0 Region 8-4A North) plays host to No.6 Cherokee Bluff (13-2, 4-0 Region 8-4A North) in a showdown for first place outright. White County (14-2, 2-1 Region 7-3A), ranked fifth in Class 3A, heads to No. 3 Pickens (16-0, 3-0 Region 7-3A) with a possible share of first place on the line.
Back in Region 8-4A on the girl's side, North Hall (10-5, 2-2 Region 8-4A North) travels to No. 10 East Forsyth (8-7, 3-2 Region 8-4A North) as both teams try to keep pace.
On the boys side, Buford (12-3, 1-0 Region 8-7A), ranked seventh in Class 7A, heads to rival Mill Creek (8-8, 1-0 Region 8-7A) as both teams are tied with Collins Hill atop the standings.
