Hall County’s School Systems' newest forthcoming elementary school will have the opportunity to apply for two programs of choice when it opens its doors for the 2024-2025 school year.
Sandra Dunagan Deal Elementary School will offer to its students the Advanced Scholars Academy and the Dual Immersion Program, according to a release from the school system. The development follows the merger between Riverbend Elementary School and White Sulphur Elementary School, both of which are set to close at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
The Advanced Scholars Academy is currently housed at Riverbend Elementary School and encourages academic excellence for those enrolled in the program. White Sulphur currently offers the Dual Immersion Program, which provides students with an opportunity to work towards becoming bilingual and bi-literate in English and Spanish.
"The introduction of the Advanced Scholars Academy and the Dual Immersion Program at Sandra Dunagan Deal Elementary School represents an exciting chapter for our district,” Superintendent Will Schofield said in a press release. “We are committed to providing students with innovative and enriching educational opportunities, and these programs of choice align perfectly with that vision."
The programs of choice are a part of the forthcoming school’s commitment to academic success and linguistic diversity, according to the release.
Information on how to apply will be posted to the Sandra Dunagan Deal Elementary School website in the coming weeks.
