Hall County Sheriff's Office warns of Hurricane Helene relief donation scams

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is warning of scammers in the area that have been falsely collecting money for Hurricane Helene relief.

The Department said in a Facebook post Friday scammers have gone to local businesses claiming to be spokesmen for Syfan Logistics and asking for financial contributions for relief efforts.

While Syfan logistics has been collecting donations throughout the week, HCSO said the company is not sending anyone door-to-door to solicit money.  As of the last report, the department did not have a description of the scammers.

HCSO advised those willing to give should donate through reputable channels, especially when giving money.

Syfan Logistics has sent 12 trailers with resources to areas impacted by Helene throughout the week so far. The company will continue to accept donations until Friday at 6 p.m. Donations can be dropped off at Turbo Truck Center, located at 2037 Old Candler Rd., Gainesville, GA 30507.
