GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Junior quarterback Smith McGarvey combined for 286 total yards of offense and three touchdowns to help lead North Hall past Lumpkin County, 21-16, in Dahlonega on Friday.

McGarvey connected with Ty Kemp 10 times for 102 yards, and his one touchdown gave the Trojans a 15-3 lead in the third quarter.

The junior quarterback's final stats: 18-of-22 passing for 172 yards, two TDs, and 114 yards rushing and one TD.

“Smith played a great game. He stepped up and was phenomenal. But you know, he has the ability to do these things,” North Hall coach Sean Pender said after the win. “But I'm very proud of this team as a whole. Ty Kemp and Luke Jenkins. Boy, those guys really stepped up.”

The win left the Trojans in strong control of the Region 6-3A standings.

McGarvey's performance earned him this week's Gaining the Edge award.
