Injured hiker rescued from White County trail

White County and surrounding area safety workers rescued an injured hiker during an afternoon incident on Wednesday.

A press release from White County's Emergency management authorities say on Wednesday, October 23, after 2:00pm, the White County 911 Communications Center received reports of an injured hiker on the Dukes Creeks Falls Trail. White County Fire Services, White County EMS, White County Emergency Management, and Helen Fire Department responded to the scene.

Fire personnel from the Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute (LACI) Fire Service also responded acting in Mutual Aid in providing additional manpower.

Officials say that due to the patient’s condition, Fire and EMS personnel extricatedthe hiker from the trail. The patient was evaluated, treated, and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, by White County EMS.

White County Emergency Services officials add that the incident response was carried out without delay or complication.
