Jefferson's impressive win over Cherokee Bluff on Friday catapulted the Dragons from fourth to No. 1 in the latest Georgia High School Association postseason rankings released this week.
The Bears were No. 2 last week. However, the loss only dropped the Bears one spot to No. 3. The Dragons (7-2, .67408) are .00637 ahead of No. 2 Harlem (6-1, .66771).
North Hall (7-2, .58790 PSR) dropped two spots to No. 13. Lumpkin County (6-3, .54010 PSR) rose one spot to No. 23. West Hall is No. 37, Chestatee is 40th. Dawson County No. 42. East Hall is 44th, and White County is 49th.
In Class A Division 1, Commerce (6-3, .56168PSR) is currently 21, down two spots from last week. However, taking the private schools out of the rankings, Commerce would be No. 14. Rabun County (6-3, .52517 PSR) rose two spots to No. 28 but is the 18th highest-ranked public school.
The GHSA will use the playoff rankings to seed the playoffs this season in Class A, Division 1 through Class 3A.
