The Gwinnett County Police Department is seeking help with locating two suspects behind a home invasion, robbery and assault of a resident at a Duluth home last July.
Gwinnett Police responded to a local area hospital and met with the victim in a case on July 29, 2024. A release from Gwinnett Police says the victim explained that just hours before, a known associate of his, 41-year old Jian Sun of Norcross and an unknown male assaulted him at his home. That unidentified male was later identified by investigators as 24-year old Stephen Carlos Valenzuela of Atlanta.
The victim explained to police he opened his front door when he heard knocking, only to be confronted by Jian Sun, and was then beaten and zip-tied by the two suspects. The victim was then placed in the backseat of his own vehicle and driven to an auto shop in Chamblee.
Police say the victim claims he was assaulted at the auto shop location and kept there while Sun and Valenzuela allegedly went back to his residence and took several items. The victim was eventually released later in the day with the expectation that he would provide the two suspects with money the following day.
Both suspects have arrest warrants for home invasion, armed robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
