By Access WDUN Staff

A Gainesville man wanted on charges of rape and child molestation from a late-March case in South Hall County is now in custody with Hall County Sheriff's deputies as of Tuesday, November 19.

Sheriff's Offices spokesperson Derreck Booth says warrants were issued on April 8th of 2024 for the arrest of 31-year-old Andreas Alonzo Perez, as he was accused of committing the abusive crimes against a female victim under the age of 10 at a South Hall County residence on the night of Saturday, March 30.

Investigators say Perez was known to the victim prior to the alleged abuse, and fled from the residence on foot after the incident.  A family member of the victim reported the crimes to deputies on March 30.

Details behind what led to the apprehension of Perez on Tuesday have not been released by Hall County Sheriff's Office authorities, as of Tuesday morning.
