The free testing is in observation of World AIDS Day, which is observed on Dec. 1 annually.

District two said in a press release that HIV usually does not have immediate concerning symptoms, so most people never realize they are infected. They add that 1 in 8 people with HIV do not know they have it.

That’s why they are offering free testing at those 13 locations on Dec. 2.

There will be an additional testing day on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in partnership with Ninth District Opportunity and Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) at the intersection of Dorsey Street and Pearl Nix Parkway for rapid testing.
