The Lanier Christian Academy football team rallied to a 14-13 and beat Cherokee Christian in the GAPPS State Championship game last week at Johnson High.
The title was the first for the football program, and LCA head coach Joel Lulinski said it was all on the boys after the game.
"I always knew they could do it, and we just had to get them to believe they could do it," he said. "The last two years all we’ve faced is adversity. The guys embraced it, and they fought hard.”
The state title win earned the Lightning this week's Gaining the Edge award.
