Banks County Fire and Emergency officials have updated the details of the Commerce business fire from Tuesday.

They report that units responded around 1 p.m. to Pottery Road to a structure fire.

When they arrived, they found a large area of merchandise that was fully engulfed with fire.

The fire was spread across three buildings, with all of them being evacuated and employees being moved to a safe area as crews worked to extinguish the flames.

All the buildings sustained moderate to heavy damage according to Fire Chief Steve Nichols, with the inventory outside being completely destroyed.

The business at the reported address is a furniture warehouse.

No injuries were reported and the business was able to return to operations on Wednesday.

The fire was put out by 6:30 p.m.

The Banks County Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause.
