A stolen camper trailer was reported by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
The suspect, though, claimed he made a deal with the owner.
Where did that deal allegedly take place? A bar in Gainesville.
In a Facebook post, Forsyth officials report that detectives were able to determine a maroon Dodge Ram 1500 was the vehicle that towed the camper away from the resident’s storage location.
Detectives drove to the vehicle’s registered address to find a “new-looking” Airstream camper in a wooded area behind the house.
Detectives were met with a woman who lived at the residence who reportedly told officers that her son, Jeffery Chester, brought the camper home.
She also said her son told her he bought it from a guy who was in the process of getting a divorce.
That’s when authorities said Chester showed up, driving a maroon Dodge Ram 1500.
When they asked him about the trailer, Chester allegedly said he bought it from a man named Anthony Streamings he met at a bar late one night in Gainesville.
He also reportedly told authorities that he paid $9,000 in cash to Streamings and was supposed to meet him at the storage place, but Streamings never showed up.
It was then that Chester allegedly said he drove away with the camper.
Authorities said Chester could not provide evidence of his dealings with Streamings, and he was subsequently arrested for felony theft by taking.
Authorities also reportedly found pipes with suspected methamphetamine residue inside the camper.
