Power outage early Tuesday morning affects nearly 1,000 Georgia Power customers in northern Hall County

Officials with Georgia Power have confirmed that a toppled tree during Tuesday's early morning rain storm is responsible to knocking out power to much of the Town of Clermont for nearly 3 hours.

Georgia Power has told AccessWDUN that the downed tree knocked out the main power line to Clermont residents just after 2:00 a.m. on December 10, causing an outage for nearly 1,000 customers along SR-52, Cleveland Highway (129) and many side roads off those routes.

Workers with Georgia Power had power fully restored to the town just after 5:00 this morning, with no reports of other damage or injuries.

An early morning power outage in northern Hall County has left about 1,000 customers with Georgia Power in the dark.

No word at last update from local officials on what has triggered the outage along Highway 129 near the White County line during the overnight and early morning in and around the town of Clermont..  

Authorities wtih Georgia Power are working to restore the power, but commuters and residents advised to plan accordingly.
