Hall County Government to take over operations at Sardis Creek Park next July

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

The Hall County Board of Commissioners approved a lease agreement between the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and Hall County Government at Thursday’s voting meeting to take over full operational responsibility of Sardis Creek Park, located at 2991 Antioch Church Rd. in Gainesville.

Hall County's Parks and Community Services Director Brent Holloway's press release says,“This lease agreement further exemplifies the value our Board of Commissioners places on our parks and greenspaces and ensures our citizens and visitors continue receiving top-tier amenities and service while visiting Sardis Creek Park."

Sardis Creek Park is a 28-acre park in North Hall, located off the shorelines of Lake Lanier that includes a boat ramp, picnic amenities, an old farmhouse and undeveloped acreage available for possible hiking trails.

Hall County will lease Sardis Creek Park under a 25-year no-fee lease agreement, similar to the lease agreements in place at Laurel Park, River Forks Park and Wahoo Creek Park.

The release also says that the next step in the process is for the U.S. Department of the Army to sign the lease agreement. Once the agreement is signed, Hall County will assume full operational responsibility for Sardis Creek Park beginning July 1, 2025. All of the park’s operational expenses, including staffing, office equipment and technology needs will be incorporated into the fiscal year 2026 budget.
