"Other than being cold," no injuries reported after two people stuck in Commerce lake

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

After reports of two people being trapped on an island in the middle of a lake, Banks County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the watershed lake in Commerce off of Grove Level Road on Monday.

When they arrived, units found the two people unable to return to shore after their boat started filling up with water and became unusable.

Jackson County Emergency Services arrived with a small boat and Banks County used it to remove the victims from the lake to safety.

No injuries were reported “other than being cold” according to Banks County officials, and the incident was cleared up at around 8 p.m.
