A Habersham County Sheriff's Office Deputy used the PIT Maneuver during a high-speed chase Christmas morning inside Hall County.
A release from the department reported that the deputy was patrolling Ga. 365 when a Jeep pickup truck was recorded traveling southbound at a speed of 102 mph at around 8:45 a.m. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop near Yonah Post Rd, but the driver failed to stop, initiating the pursuit.
The deputy used the PIT near Athens Street in Lula, which caused the Jeep to overturn and come to a stop upright on its wheels.
The male driver, 31-year-old Pratik Paul of West New York, New Jersey, was arrested and charged by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office with reckless driving and fleeing or attempting to elude.
Paul was taken to the Habersham County Detention Center where he was released later that day on a $2,500 bond.
The sheriff’s office unit, equipped with a PIT bumper, sustained minimal damage to that equipment, according to a release from the department.
