Gainesville PD reminds residents "drive sober, or get pulled over"

By Will Daughtry News Reporter

As Gainesville residents attempt to ring in the new year, the Gainesville Police Department reminded residents that they will be out in full force on the holiday looking for impaired drivers.

In a Facebook post, Sergeant Larry Sanford told residents that they have made almost 300 impaired driving arrests in their jurisdiction to date.

“If you’re going to go out this weekend, we encourage you to use ride share options, designated driver, or drive sober,” Sanford said. “Our traffic unit will be out in force looking for impaired drivers.”

Sanford ended the video telling residents to “drive sober, or get pulled over.”

AAA is also still doing their “Tow to Go” program through Jan. 2 at 6 a.m. to help impaired drivers get off the road. For service, call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO or (855) 286-9246.
