Tennis: NHall sweeps GHS; Branch sweeps Walnut Grove

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — North Hall swept a pair of close matches with Gainesville  on Thursday.

The North Hall boys took a tight 3-2 win while the Lady Trojans swept the doubles to pull away for a 4-1 win at Longwood Park.

In the boys match, North Hall got wins from Jack Maddox at No. 1 singles and Griffin Keener at No. 3. Gainesville got a win at No. 2 singles from Saxon Stephens and a win at No. 1 doubles with Zane Loggins and Andrew Mady.

The No. 2 doubles team of James Floyd and Alex Crocker proved to be the difference.

In the girls match, North Hall got two singles wins from Lilly Perry and Maggie Perry at Nos. 1 and 3. The Lady Trojans swept the doubles to clinch the match.

Amelia Moore and Mary Eloise Tymchuk took a straight-set win at No. 1 with the No. 2 team of Braely Jarrard and Ali Moore winning a thrilling match over Eleanor Richey and Camila Soriano, 6-0, 4-6, 11-9.

Gainesville’s only win came at No. 3 singles, with Madelyn Dye getting a close 63, 7-5 win over Kate Rogers.


FLOWERY BRANCH SWEEPS WALNUT GROVE

The Branch tennis teams took a pair of impressive wins to sweep the Warriors at the Flowery Branch Courts on Thursday.

The Branch boys got a 5-0 win, dropping just one set, while the Lady Falcons took a 4-1 win powered by a sweep at doubles.

For the boys, James Rivenbark and Boston Murphy both took straight-set wins in singles while Jett Hewette battled from a set down to in three sets at No. 3 singles.

The doubles teams of Brady Woodward and Nick Bellew and Arya Chawla and Baylor Oleksinski lost just three combined games in finishing off the shutout win.

For the Lady Falcons, Bryson Bishop and Presley Rosen took straight-set wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles but Alyssa Baricevic fell at No. 3 for Walnut Grove’s only point.

The doubles teams of Erica Rosen and London McDaniel and Callie Vokal and Camila Guevara both got straight-set wins.
