Three suspects were arrested Tuesday evening after an undercover investigation in Oakwood led to the discovery of over $17,000 worth of illegal drugs.
According to a press release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Tina Ta Bui, 26, of Augusta, Ignacio Mondragon, 30, of Gainesville, and Peggy Lynn Vieira, 39, of Gainesville, are each facing felony charges in the case. Agents with Homeland Security Investigations and the Sheriff's Office Special Investigations Unit were both involved in the investigation.
Investigators made contact with the three suspects Tuesday evening in a minivan near Thurmon Tanner Parkway and Winder Highway. Agents found the suspects in possession of roughly 230 grams of methamphetamine, which was packaged for distribution. They also had two suspected fentanyl pills, a stolen handgun, two scales and a small amount of cash.
The illegal drugs were valued at about $17,300.
The three suspects were charged with the following felony charges: trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft by receiving.
Additionally, Bui and Mondragon were charged with one count each of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, a felony. Mondragon also faced one misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.
All three suspects remained in the Hall County Jail without bond as of Friday afternoon.
The investigation is continuing.
