OAKWOOD, Ga. — In a battle of ranked teams, Class 4A fourth-ranked East Hall took a slim 1-0 victory over West Hall on Friday at Spartans Field.
Orlin Yanes scored the lone goal for the Vikings (3-0) in the 36th minute, with Wilder Velasquez providing the assist. From there, the East Hall defense was able to hold on for the win.
Freshman keeper Christian Velasquez got the clean sheet in goal for the win.
East Hall next will play host to Walnut Grove on Tuesday in a Region 8-4A showdown.
West Hall has played a brutal schedule in the opening weeks with three top four teams so far. The Spartans (1-3) with travel to East Forsyth on Tuesday.

The Bears ran their unbeaten streak to three with a solid draw with the Class 3A No. 6-ranked Warriors on the road.
Cherokee Bluff (3-1-1) got goals from Jack Wayne and Isaac Madrigal.
They are off until traveling to take on Class 6A No. 2-ranked Johns Creek on the road next Friday.
