MILTON, Ga. — Milton scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and held on in the seventh to knock off Gainesville 3-2 on Tuesday.
Milton sat down Gainesville in order in the top of the seventh to seal the win.
Despite outhitting Milton, the Red Elephants couldn’t capitalize late in the game.
Baxter Wright’s RBI single in the third inning tied the game, 2-2. Wright’s hit scored Tavarus Dowdy, who finished the game with two stolen bases.
Philip Williams, Cohen Miller, Wright, Cooper Reid and Branson Crawford all recorded a hit on the day.

The Lightning blew past Peachtree Academy to pick up the home-opening win on Tuesday.
Gavin Strabala picked up the win on the hill, while Tres Criste pitched a solid scoreless inning. The two combined for 13 strikeouts.
LCA was led by Josh Lebel, who went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs. Evan Kalinauskas garnered two hits, while Criste, Gavin Strabala, Carter Sexton, and Quinn Winfrey also added a hit each. Micah Criste and Tres Criste both scored three runs a piece.
The Lightning travel to Johnson Ferry on Monday.
