Habersham County announces qualifying dates for May 21 General Primary

Qualifying for the May 21 Habersham County General Primary Election will be held Mar. 4 to Mar. 8. 

Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore said qualifying hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, March 4-7, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 8.

Locations for qualifying are:

The Habersham County Republican Party will conduct its own qualifying at The Norton Agency, 855 Washington Street, Clarkesville, (706) 754-5700.

The Habersham County Democratic Party has filed a letter requesting that the Election Supervisor conduct that party’s qualifying, which will take place at the new Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office, 403 Habersham County Shopping Center on 441 Bypass, Cornelia (down from Belk and Pizza Hut), (706) 839-0170.

Candidates who plan to run as an independent in November must qualify at the Elections and Voter Registration Office, 403 Habersham County Shopping Center on 441 Bypass, Cornelia (down from Belk and Pizza Hut), (706) 839-0170.

The following qualifying fees are established for the offices below:

  • District Attorney - set by the Secretary of State
  • Superior Court Judge - set by the Secretary of State
  • State Court Judge - $ 3,210.97
  • Probate Judge $ 2,016.11
  • Clerk of Court $ 2,016.11
  • Sheriff $ 2,512.52
  • Tax Commissioner $ 2,016.11
  • Coroner $ 750.00
  • Chief Magistrate Judge $ 2,056.43
  • Solicitor $ 3,197.35
  • County Commission District 1 $ 288.00
  • County Commission District 4 $ 288.00
  • County Commission District 5 $ 288.00
  • Board of Education Dist. 1 $ 153.00
  • Board of Education Dist. 2 $ 153.00
