Humane Society of Northeast Georgia to temporarily close to public

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia will temporarily close to the public after a few animals tested positive for distemper and parvovirus.

The shelter will coordinate with the Georgia Department of Agriculture to follow quarantine protocols to prevent further spread of the illness.

“We are very appreciative of your support as we focus on the wellbeing of our animals,” the organization’s Facebook page said. “If you have sheets, towels, blankets or unused dog or cat toys to donate, we would love to have them! We can also use additional cleaning supplies including bleach and laundry detergent. Please leave any donations in the bin outside our front doors.”

Despite the shelter closure, the Healthy Pet Clinic will remain open, as patients do not come in contact with shelter pets.
