The Gwinnett County Police Department released Monday afternoon the name of a child who was killed and two others who were injured in a Sunday pedestrian accident outside the Mall of Georgia in Buford.

The agency said Abigail Hernandez, 4, was killed in that incident just after 4 p.m. outside the Dick's Sporting Goods and Von Maur at the Mall of Georgia. A 31-year-old man and a 7-year-old girl also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the pedestrian incident.

The agency said the 911 call came in at about 4:15 p.m. A preliminary investigation determined the three pedestrians were crossing Mall of Georgia Drive and walking east toward the parking lot.

The 18-year-old driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was driving northwest in the parking lot. As that truck was turning left onto Mall of Georgia Drive, the three pedestrians were struck.

The truck was impounded at the Gwinnett County Police Department headquarters for further investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The agency did not release any information on the driver of the vehicle, but they previously said that the driver was cooperating with the investigation.
