Condon earns SEC Player of the Week for 2nd time

ATHENS, Ga. — For the second time this season, University of Georgia redshirt sophomore Charlie Condon has been named the Southeastern Conference Baseball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Condon batted .556 (10-for-18) with two doubles, four home runs and 10 RBI in helping Georgia go 6-0 last week. He drew seven walks, scored nine runs and was hit by a pitch four times. Also of note, he started at five different positions with perfect fielding in 17 total chances. He made starts at all three outfield positions plus at first base and third base.

Condon leads the nation in six offensive categories: Batting Average (.565), Slugging Percentage (1.290), On Base Percentage (.659), Hits (35), Home Runs (12) and Runs Scored (29).

The SEC named a pair of players of the week Monday with Dakota Jordan (Mississippi State) joining Condon. He batted .692-4-13 last week as MSU went 4-0. The SEC Pitcher of the Week was Devin Futrell (Vanderbilt) and Freshman of the Week was Dean Curley (Tennessee).

Up next, Georgia (16-1) plays host to Iowa Tuesday (7-8). First pitch at Foley Field will be at 5:02 p.m.
