ATHENS, Ga. — The Georgia Bulldogs will face Xavier on Tuesday in the opening round of the 2024 NIT. The 32-team bracket for the tournament was announced on Sunday by the NCAA.

Tip-off is set for at 7 p.m. at Stegeman Coliseum

Tickets for Tuesday’s game will be $20 for adults and $10 for youth. As during the Bulldogs’ regular season, University of Georgia students will be admitted to the game free of charge.

Season tickets holders will receive information on ordering NIT tickets via correspondence from The Georgia Bulldog Club.

NIT tickets will go on sale to the general public at noon on Monday here.

Tickets also will be on sale at the Stegeman Coliseum box office on the Lumpkin Street side of the arena beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs are 17-16 on the season, including a 10-game winning streak which equaled the fourth-longest in the program’s 119 seasons of play.

Noah Thomasson leads an extremely balanced offensive attack for Georgia at 12.8 points per game, while Russel Tchewa paces Georgia on the boards at 6.7 rebounds per game. All told, seven Bulldogs are averaging 7.3 points or more per game.

Xavier is 16-17 overall and finished 9-11 in Big East play. The Musketeers upset Butler in the first round of the Big East Tournament before falling to top-seeded Connecticut. Quincy Olivari leads a trio of players averaging double-digits for the Musketeers at 19.4 ppg.

Georgia is making its first postseason appearance in seven years since the Bulldogs participated in the 2017 NIT. The bid is Georgia’s 15th to the NIT. The Bulldogs are 13-14 all-time in the tournament, including advancing to the semifinals in both 1982 and 1998.

Georgia has faced Xavier once before in postseason play. Following the Bulldogs’ improbable run through the 2008 SEC “Tornado” Tournament, Georgia faced Xavier in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Musketeers defeated the Bulldogs, 73-61, in Washington, D.C.
