Baseball scoreboard: Buford shuts out Mill Creek; Bluff, EaFo, NoFo, Jackson, Jefferson all win; Branch, Habersham, EHall lose

BUFORD, Ga. — Buford took the lead in the second inning and held on to knock off Mill Creek, 3-0, on Wednesday at Gerald McQuaig Field.

Sam Humphrey's two-out single in the second inning scored Cam Wood for the Wolves' first run of the game. A batter later, Buford scored again on an errant pick-off throw to make the score 2-0. 

The Wolves (11-4, 5-0 Region 8-7A) added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Ayden Lockett beat out an infield single and then stole second. Jayden Clark drilled a double into the left field corner, easily scoring Lockett to make it 3-0.

Braden Burton and Damian Brown combined to throw the Wolves' first shutout of the season. Burton pitched six innings, allowing five hits, no runs, five strikeouts, and one walk. Brown picked up the save, pitching the final inning. He sat the Hawks down 1-2-3 to score his third save of the season.

Clark led the Wolves at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, a double, RBI and one run scored. Madden Young also was 2-for-3, and Humphrey and Lockett each had one hit. 

CHEROKEE BLUFF 15, 10,
EAST HALL 0, 0

Cherokee Bluff combined for 25 runs to sweep the doubleheader against East Hall at home on Wednesday.

In Game 1, Bluff opened with a nine-run first inning to pace the 15-0 win. Holton Tucker tossed the complete game, scirking out five.

Nine Bears had hits, with Ty Corbin highlighting the game with three RBIs and a home run.

In Game 2, Cherokee Bluff scattered 10 runs across four innings to run-rule East Hall at home on Wednesday. 

Bluff blew open the game with back-to-back four-run innings to take a 9-0 lead. 

Landon Kemp and Tanaka Mukono highlighted the game with home runs. Kemp's came in the bottom of the second inning when he belted the 1-0 pitch to right field for a two-run shot and a 4-0 lead. 

Mukono smashed a two-run homer in the third inning to extend the Bears' lead to 9-0. 

Jack Sparks earned the win on the hill, going three innings while giving up one hit and striking out seven. 

Ethan England went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Bears at the plate. Jacob Vokal was 2-for-3, and Mukono was 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Ty Corbin, KT Thompson, Bubba Coleman, and Landon Kemp all recorded one hit on the day. 

EAST FORSYTH 10,
CHESTATEE 1

The Broncos scored 10 runs on 15 hits to blow past Chestatee on the road Wednesday. 

Lucas Knoila was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Trey Farr, Zach Aschoff, Chace Hall, Wyatt Cooke, Will Moffit, and Owen McGee had two hits each. 

Jackson Weir picked up the win on the mound, giving up one run on four hits with eight strikeouts. 

Colton Wilbanks and Thompson had two hits each for the War Eagles. 

EASTSIDE 5,
FLOWERY BRANCH 2

The Falcons led 2-1 after the first inning but gave up four unanswered runs in the loss to Eastside on the road Wednesday. 

Branch scored on a David Ojeda double and an error in the top of the first inning. 

After that, Eastside scored four runs: one in the second, two in the third, and one in the fifth inning. 

Ojeda, Parker Bourrie, Anthony Almeroth and David Miller all had one hit each. 

NORTH FORSYTH 14,
SHILOH 2

The Raiders grabbed the lead in the top of the third inning off a Trey Windham sac fly and never looked back en route to the five0inning win in Snellville on Wednesday. 

Windham's sac fly scored Ellis Alldredge. The Raiders added one more run in the inning off an error that scored S Dixon for a 3-1 advantage. 

In the fourth, NoFo scored five more runs off two hits. Windham doubled two runs in, a passed ball scored a run, and Jordan Cox and Brody Holbrook walked in the inning, resulting in one run each. The Raiders led 8-1 after the fourth inning. 

The Raiders added five more runs in the fifth. 

Windham and Alldredge finished the day with two hits each. Holbrook, Bryson Germanenko and Thomas Aucoin added one hit apiece. 

Windham also earned the win on the mound. He gave up two hits and two runs in four innings of work, striking out four. 

JACKSON COUNTY 2, 
HABERSHAM CENTRAL 0

Nick Auston's RBI double in the third inning and Sam Bradley's solo home run in the fifth were all the Panthers needed to defeat the Raiders at home on Wednesday. 

Colin Price was the winning pitcher, giving up three hits over 3 2/3 innings. 

Callum Spivey led the Raiders at the plate with a 2-for-2 performance. 

Bradley led Jackson County with two hits. 

JEFFERSON 8,
HERITAGE-CONYERS 3

The Patriots took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and held on until the Dragons' bats came alive in the bottom of the third inning, scoring eight runs over the ned five innings to get the win. 

Jase Peoples scored a run in the third on a ground out, and Law stroked a two-run homer to tie the game 3-3. 

Jefferson took the lead for good in the fifth inning when Rhett Hemphill scored on a pick-off attempt at first base. 

The Dragons scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth. 

Steven Tavares and Chris Law had two hits each to lead the Dragons at the plate.
